Cheng Ho Islamic Seafood Restaurant
|
|
Ahlan wasahlan al-rejab al-mubarak. Time really flies and today it's 1st Rejab 1429.
In two months time we'll start fasting again, insyaAllah
Here's another dining place within our vicinity. Located behind Carrefour Wangsa Maju,
Cheng Ho Islamic Seafood Restaurant is owned by the popular artist Amy Search.
This was our fourth attempt trying to get a table there & at last we got it.
Maybe because it was on weekday. The last three times we tried was for lunch on weekend.
The restaurant only serve rice & its dishes for dinner.
What we had was rice with tom yam, steamed siakap nyonya style,
butter prawn, deep fried chicken with mango & mix vege.
Chinese tea is refillable. Those who prefer other than rice,
it's available during lunch. Highly recommended to chinese
food lovers as it's 100% halal.
Sorry quality of pix is disappointing. My cam doesn't like working at nite

Nik Umi Rahyu bt Zulkifli, left all of us in JGC after 3 years of service. She was offered better perks from a local company. Ayu has been such a great colleague & companion but we have to set her free. Life goes on & all the best in her endeavour.
As suggested by the Big Guy we held a farewell & welcome lunch for Ayu & her successor, Ummi Salmah Ismail at JW Marriott Hotel. They don't offer buffet for lunch so we had to go for ala-carte. Great place for those who prefer dining outdoor by the poolside

TO ALL THE FATHERS
|
|
We don't actually celebrate these days but just a special thot for all great fathers in the world especially to my two abahs, my hubby & my father friends in this FP As Mak Lang quoted everyday is mother's day so the same goes, everyday is father's day.
Fathers are wonderful people
Fathers are wonderful people,
too little understood,
And we do not sing their praises
as often as we should,
For Father struggles daily
to live up to his image
As protector and provider
and hero of the scrimmage,
And perhaps that is the reason
we sometimes get the notion
That fathers are not subject
to the thing we call emotion.
But if you look inside Dad's heart,
where no one else can see,
You'll find he's sentimental
and soft as he can be.
Fathers are just wonderful
in a million different ways,
And they merit loving compliments
and accolades of praise,
For the only reason Dad aspires
to fortune and success
Is to make the family proud of him
and bring them happiness,
And like our heavenly Father,
he's a guardian and a guide,
Someone we can count on
to be always on our side.
This award is especially dedicated to all my dear father friends

BACK TO WORK
|
|
Alhamdulillah the peak period for this quarter is over. The BOD & AGM was successfully held. Taking a bit of time to tidy up this FP
After having such a long break, my mixer & oven are back to work again. Seems that they had a good warm up, producing beef curry puff and marble cake.
Beef curry puff - Before & after
This is the shortcut version of curry puff. I actually used the Kawan instant puff for the pastry and the filling is like the usual curry puff. It was my first attempt using the instant puff & yes the crispy pastry made it tasty.
A special request from dearest Ummi Irah for both recipes
Beef Curry Puff
1 packet of instant roti pratha. (I used roti bawang of Kawan brand)
The filling
4 medium potatoes-diced
Minced beef
1 big onion-diced
3 tablespoon curry powder
1 teaspoon fennel
Curry leaf
Water
1 tablespoon sugar
Salt to taste
1 egg yolk-beaten
Boil the water in a pan
Put in the potatoes & leave it until tender
Add the minced beef, onion, curry powder, fennel, curry leave, sugar & salt.
Stir it and leave until a little bit dry.
Put it aside once done.
To prepare the puff
1. Preheat oven to 170 degrees celcius
2. Take a piece of the instant puff & cut into half
3. Scoop in the filling onto the puff skin
4. Cover it and pleat the edges
5. Repeat the process until done
6. Brush the beaten egg yolk onto the puffs.
7. Bake for about 25-30 minutes
Haywire marble cake
I used the Magnolia cupcake recipe for this marble cake. My usual way is to layer it one after another. This time used the drop method whereby two scoops is drop into the pan & followed by two scoops of the other colour. It needs a lot of patience. I didn't divide the two colours equally and the marble went haywire . Lucky no one complains and they just ate it quietly. Taste is superb just that I have to try the method again
Magnolia’s Vanilla Cupcakes
1 1/2 cups self-rising flour
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
250g butter, softened
2 cups sugar
4 large eggs, at room temperature
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon pandan paste
3 tablespoon cocoa powder
1. Preheat oven to 170 celcius.
2. In a small bowl, combine the flours. Set aside.
3. In a large bowl, on the medium speed of an electric mixer, cream the butter until smooth.
4. Add the sugar gradually and beat until fluffy, about 3 minutes.
5. Add the eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.
6. Add the dry ingredients in three parts, alternating with the milk and vanilla. With each addition, beat until the ingredients are incorporated but do not overbeat.
7. Using a rubber spatula, scrape down the batter in the bowl to make sure the ingredients are well blended.
8. Divide the batter into two bottles. Add cocoa into one bowl and pandan paste into another. Mix it well.
9. Line a 9 inch cake pan. Use the drop method. Put in 2 scoops of cocoa batter into the pan. Put 1 scoop of pandan batter onto the cocoa batter. The batter will expand eventually.
10. Repeat the process until done.
11. Bake the layers for 30-40 minutes.
| Quote: | Ummi Irah-Confirm sedap Nanti cuba ye
Fizee-Itupun dah lama lam kelambu oven tu
ZiraSalam Zira. Dari kecik belajar kelim ngan mak sbb karipap ni peberet abah
Mamafami-Sebenarnya kelim tu sbb tk konfiden nak tekap gitu je takaut terburai
